PARDESTerms of service
By using the app or these websites you agree to these terms. They are short because the service is simple: the Jewish library, free, a set time to learn from it, and a chavruta you can ask, on a monthly plan.
The service
PARDES gives you texts of the Jewish library (Tanakh, Mishnah, Talmud, Musar and Kabbalah) with their classical commentaries, and a way to set times for learning: the Daf Yomi, the weekly Parasha, Tehillim, or a plan you build yourself, with a reminder at the time you choose in the phone app. All of that is free, needs no account and has no ads. What you set up is stored on your device, not with us; if you remove the app or clear your browser's data, it is gone, and we cannot restore it.
The chavruta
The chavruta is an AI study partner. You ask about a page or a line, choose who answers (the Talmid, the Avrech or the Rav, which are different AI models) and see the price of the question in credits before you send it. Nothing is charged after the fact, and a question that fails is not charged. Its answers are written by a machine and can be wrong, incomplete or out of context. The source is always the page in front of you. Do not rely on an answer for practical halacha, or for medical, legal or financial decisions. Each answer has a Report control; please use it. Some works are not open to the chavruta because of their licences, and it says so before any credit is spent.
The chavruta needs an account (sign-in with Google) and you must be 18 or over, or have a parent's consent. Keep your account to yourself. Do not use the chavruta to produce content that is unlawful or abusive, to try to extract the library in bulk, or to get around its limits; we may suspend an account that does.
Plans, billing and cancelling
The plans (Yesod, Tiferet, Keter) are monthly subscriptions. Each gives a number of credits for that month and decides who may answer; the app shows the current prices and what each plan includes before you buy. Credits do not carry over to the next month and have no cash value. A plan renews automatically every month until you cancel. You buy and cancel in the phone apps, through Apple or Google Play, under their terms (on iPhone: Settings › your name › Subscriptions; on Android: Google Play › Subscriptions). Plans are not sold on mypardes.app. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and the plan stays active until the end of the month already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Rights you have under your local consumer law are not affected. A plan belongs to your account and works on the web, on iOS and on Android. We may change prices or what a plan includes for future months, and will tell you in the app before a change affects a renewal.
Not a ruling
The texts are digital editions and can contain errors. Nothing in the app is a halachic ruling (a psak); for questions of practice, ask a rabbi you trust. If you find a mistake, tell us and we will fix it.
The texts, and what you may do with them
The Talmud, Mishnah, Tanakh and their classical commentaries are the heritage of everyone. Many of the digital editions in the app come from Sefaria and other publishers under Creative Commons licences, some of them non-commercial (for example the William Davidson Edition and the Steinsaltz commentary, CC BY-NC). We show those free, for non-commercial use, with their attribution. Every edition in the app and its licence is listed in the app under Me › מקורות ורישיונות (sources and licences). A text whose licence we could not establish is not shown. You may read, quote and share the texts under their licences. You may not resell them, strip their attribution, or use the app's data to build a commercial product. The plans pay for the chavruta, not for texts: every text is shown free. The chavruta does not read the non-commercial editions; it reads other editions of the same works whose licences allow it.
The videos and design that we produce are ours (or licensed to us). You may share them freely with attribution to PARDES for non-commercial purposes. What you write in the app (notes) stays on your device and remains yours. Your questions to the chavruta remain yours; you may use its answers for your own learning and share them, saying that a machine wrote them.
Acceptable use
Do not use the service to break the law, to harass anyone, to scrape or bulk-download the library, to reverse-engineer the app, or to interfere with other people's use. We may block access that does.
What we do not promise
The service is provided as is. We do not promise that it is free of errors, that it will always be available, that a reminder will always arrive, that an answer of the chavruta is correct, or that a given text or feature will remain forever. To the extent the law allows, Tarayants Consulting LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ending things
You can stop using the service at any time: remove the app, or clear the site's data in your browser. If you have a plan, cancel it where you bought it; deleting the app or the account does not cancel a store subscription. You can delete your account in the app. We may end or change the service with reasonable notice, and if we end a paid plan early we refund the unused part.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and disputes go to the competent courts in Tel Aviv, Israel, unless the law where you live gives you rights that cannot be waived. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stands.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date at the top changes, and material changes are announced in the app. The current version is always at mypardes.org/en/terms/; the Hebrew version is at /il/terms/, and if they differ the English governs. Questions: privacy@mypardes.org.
